SHERIFF'S BLOTTER: Catalytic converter reported stolen at U.S. 131 park-n-ride

MECOSTA COUNTY — Deputies with the Mecosta County Sheriff’s Office responded to the following calls from July 25-28.  All calls may not be reported. All suspects are assumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

• Deputies responded to the 100 block of South Cass Street, Morley, for a report of a suicidal subject. Caller alleged her ex-husband was making suicidal statements via text and social media. Big Rapids police located subject who did not make any suicidal statements to them or to deputies who arrived later.  

• Deputies trespassed a male from MI Works. The male allegedly had made threats to Workbox (A placement agency for MI Works in Reed City). He arrived at MI Works in Big Rapids for an interview with Point employment agency who would not meet with him due to the alleged threats he made in Reed City. He left peacefully.

• Deputies responded to the 10000 block of North Chippewa Road, Chippewa Township. A probation violation subject was arrested for being on property he was trespassed from.  

• A traffic stop near Northland Drive and 5 Mile Road for speed led to the discovery of the passenger having a warrant out of Kent County. Subject was lodged without incident.

• Deputies responded to the 100 block of North James Street for a report of criminal sexual conduct that occurred in January. An incident report was filled out, and the victim's phone was handed over per the parents' permission. Forensic interview is to be set up. Case is under investigation.

• Deputies responded to the 11000 block of Northland Drive for a report of an unidentified male not paying for items from the store. Photos of the man and vehicle were received from security camera footage

• Criminal sexual conduct was reported in the 14000 block of Bulldog Lane. A female alleged an unknown male assaulted her in an apartment Jan. 2, 2020.

• Deputies responded to the 18000 block of 14 Mile, Big Rapids Township, for a report of a disorderly male who got into an argument with girlfriend. She gathered her belongings that allegedly were thrown in yard by the male and left the residence with her mother.

• Larceny of catalytic converter off a 2020 Blue Jeep was reported at the U.S. 131 and 8 Mile park-n-ride in Mecosta Township. Incident occurred between 10:30 a.m. and 3:11 p.m. that day.

• A civil dispute was reported in the 21000 block of Perry Avenue, Big Rapids Township. Two females were arguing over a sleeping child allegedly left in the car while mom was paying for gas.  

• A traffic stop near Harding and 50th Avenue led to two passengers being arrested for active warrants One was turned over to Mount Pleasant police, while the other was lodged at the Mecosta County Sheriff's Office Jail. A vehicle search allegedly produced drug paraphernalia, as well as a reciprocating saw with metal cutting blades in a backpack. Police said they did not find drugs or catalytic converters.

• Deputies responded to the 2000 block of 20 Mile Road, Barryton, where a male was located deceased in the woods.
