A Summerfield man was told by the sheriff's deputy that he had confessed to killing a 600-pound pig because it "screamed too much in the morning" and had been arrested.

According to reports, the 27-year-old Villanueva told Deputy Sheriff Alan Edwards that he "shot the pig in the face many times."

Yessica Acosta, the owner of the pig, told the sheriff's deputy that she used to live in the 8400 block of Lane 128 Southeast with her 600-pound pig. Acosta said that she and the new owner, Villanueva, reached an oral agreement allowing her to keep the pigs in the house so that she could feed the animals.

The report stated that Acosta said that when she noticed that Villanueva was “covered with blood”, she went there to feed the pigs on December 11. She said Villanueva asked her to leave. The lady said that she asked about her pig and wanted to see this animal.

She said that Villanueva refused to answer her and asked her to leave again. Acosta said that Villanueva got into her car and drove it out of the property. She said Villanueva then went home and left in another car. Acosta said she called the Marion County Sheriff's Office for help.

Edwards and another deputy went to their place to find Villanueva. When asked what happened, Villanueva would only say that they were trespassers on the property. When asked about the woman’s pig, the report showed that Villanueva smiled and told the delegates “it’s gone” despite the blood on the man’s shirt.

Villanueva told the representative that he and Acosta had reached an oral agreement that she could come to this land to feed her pigs. He showed the delegates where to raise pigs. Law enforcement officers saw blood stains beside the pigpen. Villanueva explained that the pig had been cut by an electric wire, but the representatives did not believe him.

A neighbor told the representative that she heard gunshots and later saw a large object on a truck and a trailer. The neighbor heard Acosta arguing with a man.

While looking for trucks and trailers, the representatives found the vehicle and parked it in the 8600 block of Lane 128 Southeast. A woman who was later identified as Villanueva’s sister told the police that her brother planned to kill the pig because “it screamed too much in the morning”. The woman said that her brother shot the pig and he and others loaded the pig on the trailer. She said that her brother covered the pig and everyone left.

The representatives went to Villanueva's home and talked with him. He told them that he killed the pig.

Prison records show that Villanueva was released on bail of US$5,000 after being detained. He could not be reached for comment.
