The use of explosives to blast rocks is outdated. The protests of locals who carried out such projects forced the authorities to adopt new technologies that are not only safer for residents, but also safer for buildings.

In the latest trend, construction companies are using "diamond rope" rock cutting saws in residential areas of the city.

This technology is considered a safe alternative to rock cutting in residential areas.

In the first step, a 3-inch wide hole was drilled in the terrain using an LD-4 machine on a 350 HP compressor.

These holes were drilled 60 feet longitudinally, and then drilled vertically as needed to align them at one point.

After the drilling work is completed, the diamond rope is passed through one end of the hole and brought out from the other end. Then tie it to the diamond wire saw, and then turn on the machine.

The rope began to pass through the hole continuously, and in the process began to cut the rock.

The rope studded with wire and diamond dust passed silently through the rock.

"About 1.5 meters of rock can be cut in one hour," said Rahul Pal, a project engineer at Simplex Infrastructure Limited. After the rocks are cut into pieces, they are further broken and removed with a planer.

The technology is currently being used in the residential area of Chandulal Baradari in the old city, and the company is implementing the 800 mm diameter drainage pipe laying project for HMWSB. In the past few months, the rock here has been cut to 100 meters.

“We introduced this machine after discovering that blasting rocks with explosives would cause problems in residential areas,” said Mr. Rahul Pal. He added that the finishes on both sides of the trenches are also very good.
